Practice Areas and Experience
Mark has seven years’ experience in both litigation and solicitor’s work. He is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia as well as the Law Society of Alberta, and has conducted hearings in the provincial and superior courts of both provinces. He practices primarily in the areas of civil litigation, employment law, human rights law and wills & estates law.
Mark regularly provides research and writing services to a major Canadian legal publisher. His work is published on WestlawNext Canada, a legal research subscription service used by law firms across the country. Mark also provides research and writing services to individuals, law firms and other organizations on demand.
Mark conducts legal research in the following practice areas: aboriginal law, administrative law, bankruptcy law, commercial litigation, constitutional law, criminal law, debtor/creditor law, environmental law, family law, human rights law, insurance law, municipal law, employment law, real estate law, tort law and wills & estates law.
Before being called to the bar, Mark worked as an assistant in the Professional Conduct Department of the Law Society of British Columbia, assisting in the investigation of breaches of the Law Society Rules and Code of Professional Conduct. During Law School, Mark completed an internship with the Terrorism Prevention Branch of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna, Austria.
Personal Activities and Community Involvement
An important part of Mark’s practice is the provision of pro bono legal services to people of limited means. Mark has advised pro bono clients on human rights, wrongful dismissal, employment, residential tenancy, family law and debt collection matters. In his free time, Mark enjoys reading, travel, skiing and board games.
Education and Certifications
Mark obtained his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Calgary in 2007, and his Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia in 2012.
Mark was called to the bar in 2014 in Alberta and 2015 in British Columbia.
